Interestingly, the squirt throw bottle that I posted is from 1941. I have a chart for "Formulas for the NEW Squirt Base" for 1942 and it states "the following facts and directions pertain to all formulas: Throw 1 1/2 ozs. to each 7 oz. bottle." Perhaps the formula was weakened by 1/2 oz.
Bob, I heard from my friend who owns the Squirt throw and he said that it hold 2 ounces up to the line. The syrup bottle that you found on ebay would date from the 1960's and I'm quite certain there were formula changes by then.
I'm not sure about value but they all look like bottles from the late 30's to 1940. (1938, 1939, 1940) I would imagine that the backs have the good housekeeping seal on them.
I would say the J = 1938 on a Glenshaw bottle. Look carefully on the lip again and see if you also see a J on the opposite side of the 41. There will be a thread here somewhere that discusses the Glenshaw letter/date code. I also think the 1938 is a better date for a good housekeeping...
The W on the lip stands for 1951. I have a lot of glenshaw bottles but have not been able to determine anything conclusive about the number on the opposite side of the lip from the letter.
Hi Bob, I don't know if these pictures will help or not, but here's an ice blue 1915 LGW Coke bottle that I have. The heel is clearly marked L.G.W-19. and it does not have a seam in the neck.
On none of the Glenshaw Squirt bottles that I have that lip date from 1939 to 1953 is there ever an additional number. Always, [G] above 700 above a number. This appears to have changed in 1954. I have a SQUIRT bottle with a "Z" on the lip. The base is marked [G] 54 above 12-(dash)700. The Z...
I thought about that also, but I don't see any correlation at all. Bottles with number11 from Illinois and New Jersey and Delaware. 43 from Kentucky and Maryland. 57 in Maryland and North Dakota, 10 from Ohio and Wisconsin. And the clincher I have several bottles from Cumberland, Maryland...
All of the (G) 700 bottles referenced earlier are 7 oz green bottles, and all Squirt. The numbers appear to have nothing whatsoever related to the date. I have a 1939 (K lip) and 1945 (Q lip) that both have the number 17 on the bottom. The bottles that have the number 49 on the bottom date to (M...
Hey Bob,
I just looked at all the Glenshaw squirt bottles in my collection that have a (G) 700 on the bottom. Here's a sample of the other numbers on the bottom ... 6,10,16,45,21,17,11,43,52,25,28,63,57,49,20,49,61,8 . All of these bottles could be positively identified by the lip code and the...
Thank you very much Rick. The pictures are very clear and you have some nice bottles. Since I'm only vaguely familiar with those bottles does the date scheme that we are advocating make sense for your bottles? In your case GI 1937, GJ 1938 and J 1938.
