    Black Glass Questions

I apreciate the advice. I thought that one looked authentic. I may put together a group of black glass bottles from ebay. It would be easier and probably less expensive than finding them myself but I don't think I could buy one that I liked better than this one I found myself [8D]...

    Black Glass Questions

A couple of newbie question here. Here is a black glass bottle that is on ebay I was considering bidding on. Is there anyway in general to help tell if the black glass bottles are authentic? The selling prices generally seem pretty low considering the age of black glass bottles but how can...

    Galveston Cherokee Medicine

Swiz, I agree, it's still cool. Sure wish I could find something on the history of Cherokee Medicine. Thanks, David Lobey, I've thought about restoring this one and several others we've found that will make a grown man cry. I've been lurking on the "cleaning & repair" board, this one...

    Galveston Cherokee Medicine

The color is a lot better in the daylight but here is a close up of the embossing. Thanks, David Texas Arrowheads

    Galveston Cherokee Medicine

Here's the best heart breaker we've found so far. Aqua, applied lip, BIM, 2-5/8" square x 8-3/4" tall. Embossed "THE CHEROKEE MEDICINE CO. GALVESTON." Only problem is the lip being deeply chipped on both sides. If I ever restore a bottle this will be the first candidate. I like it well...

    E.E.Sutherland Medicine Company

That's a neat item, Charlie. I think you might be right about it being a watch FOB, definitely some type of pendant. Good deal on picking that one up. Looks like that pine-tar-honey was a pretty well advertised product, I bet it tasted bad enough to kill any cough. Probably a lot less...

    E.E.Sutherland Medicine Company

We found this Dr. Bell's Pine-Tar-Honey - E.E.Sutherland Medicine Company, Paducah, Ky. bottle during one of our creeking episodes. It's 7" tall and 2-1/2" wide, aqua and embossed "E.E.Sutherland Medicine Company, Paducah, Ky" on the face "Dr. Bell's" on one side and "Pine-Tar-Honey" on the...

    A Tale of Two Bitters

Diginit - Thanks for the info on the ages. Even more proud of the creek bottle to know it's pre-1885. I agree the amber is an ABM bottle. I did a search here like you suggested and was amazed at the amount of info already discussed on this site. I had to figure out how to spell "Hostetter's"...

    A Tale of Two Bitters

Trussin, Would you call ours a "yellow-amber" then? Does your yellow one appear to be about the same age as our creek bottle? Thanks, David

    A Tale of Two Bitters

There is a lot of difference in the engraving. Not shown is the "18 FLUID OZ." in a circular pattern on the back of the OK bottle. Nothing is engraved on the back of our creek bottle. I just left our creek bottle soaking in Vinegar to try to remove the calcium looking stain that you can see...

    A Tale of Two Bitters

The applied top is obviously older on our creek bottle on the right.
