I try to remember the quote from Anselm Rothschild when faced with some of the crazy things going on in the world today:
"There is some money to be made..., We must take things as they are and profit of the folly of the world."...
Hi Nic,
Don't know of but one bottle from Penn Yan (and it is on my wish list).
If you ever dig one of these - the aqua The Struble K&L cure from Penn Yan, then you've got yourself a great find! It's the scarcer cousin of the rare cobalt Dr. Struble's kidney cure from Himrods, NY.
Keep...
Awesome video! I'm from the SC lowcountry originally, but never got to dig in Charleston, cause I was too young to get over there in the early 70's when I started collecting bottles back then. I never got to dig a privy, (didn't really know about them then), just dug farm and town dumps in...
Hi Ed,
Yep, I got several others, some pretty nice, others more common.
- a small size Dr. Seeleye's Magic Cough and consumption Cure Abilene, Kansas to go with my large one. Also took a photo of a label for this that was on an unembossed bottle. Too bad the label wasn't on the embossed...
here are a few more cures from VA that I'm aware of:
White's Quick Healing Cure Norfolk Va. 6 1/4, rct amber (also 5" version)
Dr. Welfley's Rheumatic Cure / Prepared by Drs.Sprinkel & Welfley/ Shenandoah, Va. 8", rct, aqua
how about WVa?
Lightning Kidney and Liver Cure / No Relief ...
Very cool ad. Thanks so much! The middle panel with the roman gladiator reminds me of the embossed figure on Hermanus Germany's Infalliable Dyspepsia Cure from Reading PA. Wonder if one of these companies copied the other for the image?

Hi Taylor,
Thanks for the info on the Orcutts. Always good to know where these bottles originated. Do you have any advertisements or further info on this one?
Mark
Hi Andy,
Sorry you couldn't make it. It would have been nice to meet you. Reno was a great show. There were some cure bottles around, but you had to hunt. John Wolf had some good ones, but I think I was his only customer. He had a rare "For Colds/ Coughs Croup &/ Immediate Relief/ & / Speedy...
I was at the Reno/Expo show 2 weeks ago and found 10 or so new cures for my collection. I also got to meet ktbi (Ron) from the forum and see his impressive Kidney bottle display. Wish I'd thought to ask some of the other nice people I met there if they were members of the forum. I was looking...
Matt,
I have a HITE'S PAIN CURE / FOR MAN AND ANIMALS/ ROANOKE, VA., 5 3/4", rct, clear.
I wonder if the "FARRAR’S EMULSION POWERS, TAYLOR & CO ." you mentioned has some connection to the "Farrar's Ague Cure N.C.M. Co. Wilmington" which is a pretty scarce cure bottle? Which city is the...
Here's a few in my collection. Being a cure collector, I estimate that about 1 out of every 6 bottles in my collection is a Dr. bottle. Never knew I had so many Dr. bottles!
Here are two that I like for the labels, even though they're not embossed cures. Sorry about the fuzzy photos, I need...
Ron,
You've got an awesome collection of kidney bottles and some very nice cures. Are you going to display in Reno this summer? I'd love to see your colleciton. Do you have any more info on the Houghton's Electric Compound Cures...? I've never seen or heard of that one before. If you like...
Hi Plumbata,
glad you found this info useful. I've had the article on the irradiated insulators bookmarked for awhile. It looks like (fraudulant) color modification is much more of a problem in insulator collecting than for bottles.
I don't know why the glassblower from Co State called...
