    Widemouth Case Gin

Hi Cliff I'm on one of my rare surfs on the forum, and I come across this magnificent bottle. The date you quote is about right, however it is not a wide mouthed case gin, but a so called seed bottle. Once in a while, on very rare occasions you might come across one in Holland Apparently they...

    Notice posted..

Dear tinfoil I can go along some way with your feelings (not the comments !) but at the same time it is not correct to misquote !! The way I read it newbies post containing URL does not get deleted, it gets "deleted pending review" Now I know I'm not english, but isn't there a vast difference ?

    TRUMPET-MOUTH STONEWARE BOTTLES

Flaschenjagers comment made me think that I've also seen a picture somewhere. And here it is. The comment in case it is not legible says: Hand made earthen and salt glazed containers. Various sizes 4" to 8"high. Used for dyes and black paste. Period 1850-1930s. Value 50p to one pound fifty...

    TRUMPET-MOUTH STONEWARE BOTTLES

Have dug dozens of a variety of sizes. The ones where some of the content was still present, it tended to be a semi liquid waxy substance of a yellowish brown colour. So some sort of polish as you had already suggested. Just dug some out of a box, and the makers stamps were in my case Doulton...

    Earthenware mineralwater bottles

    still testing

The coloureds are as rare here as they are anywhere, the green one is dutch, the amber one belgian. Nice thing about being on the continent, not many (as yet) bottle collectors, so sometimes you really come across bargains here. Look at this one on the left for $1 !!

    still testing

Starting with the last question, the smallest object is a cod bottle opener. The bladder was pointed out to me by my wife in a junk shop in South Africa, where I managed to keep a straight face when told that the price was 2 Rand (then about $2),and it was said in a manner which conveyed that...

    Bitters ?

Found this bottle clearing up. Dark green, square with somewhat rounded shoulders. It has an applied seal depicting Star of David, with fish in the centre, and surmounted by HR. One panel is embossed HARTVIG KANTOROVICZ POSEN. Now surfing here and there I've come across quite a few...
