My son just found a bottle in the woods that looks exactly like this:
ketchup bottle
Has the same markings as listed in the link, i.e. "E1636" and 2, 5, and 4 around the logo.
Does look like anything super-exciting, but I am wondering if we should go back and dig some more around the...
We were camping in Southern Maryland the other day and I found THIS bottle on the beach. Looks like it's been in the water for awhile. I was hoping to find a message in it but no such luck. :-)
On the bottom it has "G-286" and "Duraglas". On the left of the diamond it has a "4" and on the...
I've decided to part with a set of about 30 bottles that I've dug up at the same location over the last couple of months. One reason is that my wife wants to clear some space in the basement and this treasure did not make it to the list of what stays. :-(
Here is an album with the photos...
Is there a way to id a jar or a bottle by its bottom markings that is better than simply googling it. That is, is there some sort of online guide to bottom markings.
Here are three specific cases.
1. "3-K-415-S"
2. "D 23 65-9"
3. "C8 G8 2000 6 61 49" plus some text that I can't...
So I was looking at these two bottles:
and then it occurred to me that I can do this:
So all I need now is to find some type of rubber piece to fit around the small bottle to make a tight bottle stopper...
Can't say it looks particularly elegant but maybe this way I can actually...
I decided to sell the Knowlton Mason vacuum jar that I recently found. Here's the link to the eBay auction:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/280774470244?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
Since it's hard for me to figure out how much this jar is worth, i started low just making...
This is a question from a newbie that has a box of 20 or so bottles from two digs (https://www.antique-bottles.net/forum/results-of-another-dig-at-the-same-place/m-465100/tm.htm) sitting in his basement. Looks like one or two of those have some value, so I might be able to sell them to someone...
So I decided to stop by the excavation site (https://www.antique-bottles.net/forum/anything-interesting-in-this-collection%3F/m-462400/tm.htm)during my lunch break the other day and dug up another small batch of bottles and jar. Do any of these catch your eye?
1. This one says "MASON VACUUM...
OK, so I decided to clean up this canteen (https://www.antique-bottles.net/forum/anything-interesting-in-this-collection%3F/m-462400/tm.htm) a bit more to try to figure out what it is. Right in the middle on one side saw a logo mostly covered by iron rust dust that got glues to the canteen...
I've been slowly cleaning my 1st collection of old bottles my son and I unearthed last week (https://www.antique-bottles.net/forum/site-of-my-first-dig/m-461165/tm.htm)
I put together an album of my lousy attempt of capturing all the embossings here...
This is my second post on this forum. The 1st one was this https://www.antique-bottles.net/forum/First-post%3A-an-unexpected-find-during-creek-clean%2Dup/m-460320/tm.htm about some bottles we found with my son while on a volunteer clean-up last weekend. I am totally new to bottle collecting so I...
Hello everyone!
Just join this forum. Excited about it since now I hope I can find out a lot about the results of what started as a community clean-up effort and ended up being a mini "archeological dig".
My son and I were participating in a community clean-up event yesterday picking up...
