Thanks for your replies, tend to agree with you as it would be about the same size roughly as bed warmer bottles. The moulded attatchments on the ends could be for carrying it.

My mate found this weird bottle type thing the other day while driving across a paddock.
Sure looks to be very old- not something home made recently or anything like that.
Its about 12" long 6" high and has a rough salt glaze.
It does have a nasty crack on the bottom.
The hinge type end bits...
Thats a real nice beer Irish great condition too by the look.
Dont know anyone who drinks Fosters anymore, I used to enjoy it now and then but V.B seems to be the go now.
One beer that really turns me off is West End must be the water quality in S.A.

Hi Irish
I also went to Maryborough for the weekend. If you could only go to one show a year this show is the one not to miss.
Displays were exceptional this year (as always) and there were some nice items amongst the swap & sell.
I displayed in Sauces & Chutneys for the first time and was...
Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this bottle I dug today.

Hi Awysocki
A similar bottle is found here in Australia usually in black glass with a bit different lip design. These Australian found ones are normally categorized in Goldfield type bottles which date around 1850s-60s. Most of these Goldfield era bottles were imported from parts of Europe as...
You know when u have a good look at a Rosella bottle they really are supurb. In fact a top class pic compared to a lot of others.
Funny how when something is common your eyes get clouded over.
A brown 26oz Rosella would get the blood pumping !

hi Tandy
There are some really rare ones from S.A though, how about the Kent Town green shear lip, the Humphris 26oz square/ diamond type in purple, these u see in "A" section at the shows.
I actually had my hands on a sqaure type 26oz Humphris it had a price of $120 I did not know much about...
Hi
Very unusual and amazing find. Goes to show you should never say never.
Do you think it is strange to find poisons in clay containers, you would think that some of the nasty stuff could possibly seep through the side unless it was perfectly glazed.
Although most stuff in small amounts...
Hi Irish & Tandy
Also have the 13oz size in a real nice purple, The name of the company is The Bendigo Fruitgrowers Co-operative Society both have the "M" on the base for the 1900 -1915 period. You are right I have seen a nice jar with the same embossing also.

Hi
Recently I bought this aussie sauce bottle at auction for my collection. I have been after one of these for a while but havent had the money when one has been available.
The embossed picture has to be one of the best from Australia with a digger panning for gold, a real symbol of Australia...
Thanks for the info, it is a invalid food bottle by the sounds.
We use creosote impregnated wooden posts on the farm, I'm sure it would do wonders for your insides. Sure it would be just lovely.
Cheers Glenn
Hi Deepwoods
I dug the bottle in Northern Victoria Australia it was amongst bottles that were from about 1890-1910 period. The color is quite nice.
Do you feel peptonoids could be some sort of medicine?
Cheers Glenn
