I live in an apartment that is part of a house built in 1840. I borrowed a probe that is 4 or 5 foot long from work, and decided to start poking around in the yard behind my place.
There is an old back door that is now boarded up. You can tell because the trim is still there on the outside...
Picked up another local milk bottle from Lewisburg, PA. Where I live.
Did some research, and it turns out this isn't my first milk bottle from a dairy run by E.G. Harner. Harner first came to Lewisburg to begin running the Bucknell University dairy that produced milk for students. Harner...
This may be the first pontil I ever dug. However, it is broken. I really have limited knowledge on how to I.D. these, and how to guess its age.
Can you guys help me out? What do you think? Pontil mark?
A few photos to follow, both before and after rinsing it out.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Here's a link to my eBay auction for a milk bottle from Meyersdale, PA. I really like the blue pyroglazing, but I'm trying to keep my collection limited to my home county.

I'm not much of a jar guy, but this had enough character for me to pick up. I beleive it is a half gallon size atlas strong shoulder mason. I love the big old bubble in it and the amber/olive swirls. Too bad the lid is a Ball. It would be neat to have a matching atlas lid.
So, jar...
Found this shard at my new digging location and am having some trouble figuring out what it once was. I'm still very new to digging/collecting, so I use google and ebay a lot to look things up. No luck on this one so far.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I hope you everyone out there enjoys what I have to share as much as I have enjoyed seeing pictures of other people's collections since I joined this site.
I've just recently within the last 6 months or so taken an interest in local milk bottles. The following is what I've bought and dug...
Hi all, I'm fairly new to bottle collecting/digging, and even newer to this site. Thought I'd put a plug in for Union County, PA milk bottles (Lewisburg, Mifflinburg, Glen Iron, New Columbia, West Milton, Millmont, Pleasant Grove, New Berlin, Winfield) If any members out there have any they...
I'm fairly new to milk bottle digging/collecting. In my research I've come across references to the Pennsylvania Dairy Handbook by Lloyd. Does anyone out there have any information on this book? Is it available for purchase somewhere?
Thanks!
