Found this on Worthpoint interesting read ! The bare iron pontil apparently had a fairly narrow lifespan as the majority of these bottles date between about 1845 and the...
Welcome to the group. I collect inks also but I chase the colors more than the labels. But your collection is beautiful! I collect US inks and Penny inks for pleasure and photography!
Nice Bottles Uncle Bruce ! I've been working on my Philly Squats. My three fresh ones for 2024. The inks have been more of my focus so far for 2024. But with only 19 days into the year, I have time! LOL
Welcome back south Cam ! Looks like you had some great digging back home, and the fact that we are having a late winter is an added bonus for us here on the east coast! Congrats on the Warner's and Keily stoneware beer!
Touch base with me when you got some time. Tony
It has been a great end to the year for the collection. These are some new stunners in the collection. I do love my inks! 1. Green with copper stain infused in the glass. P. Garrett, Penn MFG, Philada. 3. Senate Ink Co. cottage ink. 4. Large Morrel's burst top paneled ink with large air...
SodaBob,
What a unique bottle and great find. I don't know if you are a member of the FOHBC but they publish a great magazine "Antique Bottle & Glass Collector" There November-December issue has a great 4 page article on the Moxie Soda. Oh, just in case you are not familiar with...
Happy November all! I hope everyone got some good finds this summer. I have acquired some new beauties since my last post. Sadly I still am unable to do any digging in the ground just online. But it has yielded some exceptional finds that wanted to share. I have been doing some more photography...
I would have to agree with Uncle Bruce. That was my initial reaction when I first saw the picture. Knife and Ax sharpening stone. Vendor used to go from house to house with one and offered sharpening services.

New approach for bottle documentation and records. I did a basic set up with plywood from my shop, a piece of plexy glass and LED light. It worked well but after seeing some still life bottle photography using black background , I decided to give it a try. So went and got some black foam core...
I'd be interested in the Wampole if wanting to sell or trade for it. Regarding the wide mouth amber jar. Yes it is a snuff, They had several based with different dot patterns. Not sure what they indicated, possibly type of snuff or strength? Here is my Levis Strauss labeled snuff from Philadelphia.
I recently purchased this ink for under $10. I noticed the grey tint to the glass and knew it would be a glower! But there is no embossing on it. Anyone seen this one and could shed some light on it would be appreciated!
Judy, hi I would suspect that that is a condiment bottle, Katsup or Pepper sauce. They usually had multiple panels or ribs. The height is about right for one also. Here are several pepper suaces that I have. From 1870' up to 1920's.
