Quick dig with my buddy Samuel yielded a wide variety of Cookeville cokes. Unfortunately all heartbreakers including a nearly whole Knoxville amber and two nearly whole block lettering Cookeville variants.
I wish I could tell the story about the dig but I'm keeping it private out of respect for...
Hi! I live out of central Tennessee near Jamestown but i travel all over an I'm always looking for new digging buddies. I'll send you a message.
@hemihampton thank you for making the connection!
Can't seem to find any info on this one online in this shape and color. In aqua, property of and filled by The Clover Leaf Dairy Chattanooga TN. (Inside clover) bread, cream, butter, fruit ices, ice cream, pure milk.
Looking for a relative value in this dug condition please.
A tiny bit of liquor keeps the belly warm...just kidding. ;)
Getting the body warm with tea/coffee/soup before going out in the cold always helps me maintain a higher core temp. Maybe bring an extra set or two of socks to dry your feet out regularly, and an extra pair of junk shoes if they can...
Did you purchase those maps?
I can slightly use the image on the website as guidance but I can't zoom to the level of detail that would be practical.
@sewingmom amazing resource! I had been using this site for general property viewing and had no idea of this capability. Many many thanks to you.
Here is a quick video I made for a fellow forum member for a local town to showcase what can be done with modern tools (definitely not perfect by any means). I took a Sanborn from the LOC and overlaid it on google earth's satellite image.
I thought I remembered you said you were from the Chicago area! If I ever make it that far I will definitely lt you know in advance.
I only had a short time this trip so I tried doing some arrowhead hunting on the cumberland river in Kentucky. Seems like that entire area is full of history...
@UncleBruce I understand your sentiment. The thrill of any hobby always starts with the unknown and the want for more. I'm not disappointed I don't have a huge horde of 1800s bottles. This satire wasn't directed at any single person.
@hemihampton I may be super cheeky but I definitely mean well...
It's Monday...so I found time to gather up my pontilled 1800s collection that I inherited and dug in the 1980s and snapped a phot for you all. Be jealous!
It's Tuesday! Take a look at my 5 labeled stoneware gallon jugs!!!
It's Wednesday, does anyone want to see some of my cool, labeled meds...
I have to admit I was disappointed about it but it just wasn't my time! I'm going to be more aggressive with construction sites next spring.
Since then I've successfully pinpointed one Nashville town dump but it's currently covered by buildings. Since big city exploring hasn't been fruitful...
Got a mini backhoe, one for moving boulders and pulling roots/digging holes. This site is a bit hard to reach with the backhoe unfortunately. For the right job I'm going to bust that thing out.
@hemihampton if only the well wasn't so far down and I had a damn rope ladder. I have the energy to...
I'll try to keep this one as short as possible.
Basically, I had not been hunting big cities in Tennessee until the past 6 months or so. Recently I learned of a huge stadium project in Knoxville that was conveniently located over an old brewery and various storefronts. I knew I was about a...
@Newtothiss not preachy at all. I tend to overdo things and push myself way too far so yours and everyone's advice here for the time being was totally warranted.
The feeling of others worrying about my whereabouts and also the potential for a child or animal to fall into the open well was...
