I have had good luck using a cheap electric sump pump, and a bucket. The right bucket helps, and an electric staple bucket is the one I stick with. It's a 2 gallon bucket, so it requires a smaller hole. I dig a hole in the corner, as deep as I can without turning it into soup. Put the sump in the bucket, and sink it without burying it. As long as you keep the walls from caving into the bucket, it will tolerate seeds and muddy water. It also keeps the hose water from filling the hole back up when you shut the pump off. They will pump about 20' vertical.

I often find myself disagreeing with what you say, and now's no different. I'll leave it at that. Looking forward to seeing what came out of this hole!

Josh,
Nic and John ARE a couple of good guys, but don't tell them that.

What type of maps do you want, of Essexville- Bay City?
Are you looking to dig pits, dumps, or metal detect?

we have both looked for fire insurance maps for essexville. their are many maps from bay city but they stop about 3-4 blocks short of josh's house. some old stuff in the privy but nothing great. most of the good stuff was broken except the bennington spitoon which was very cool and right at the bottom.
