    James Sweeny flask, Irish whiskey import?

    Found this small whiskey flask in a South Philly foundation dig.
    Embossed: "James Sweeny, Wine & Spirit Mercht, Fintona."

    ound mention of a James Sweeny, liquor merchant, in a Cork business directory from 1863. Fintona, however, is a tiny village in Northern Ireland and not near Cork.

    Any info appreciated.

    He's listed in the 1871 Fintona directory as a spirit maker and grocer. Cool flask. Got to be a story behind how it got to Philadelphia!
