17 This is a stopper in close off of one of the pint sized bottles.It is the only one in the chest that is smooth not ornate like a star on the others.

Chuck you are correct veneer was the wrong word to use.The wood however is still two types American Chestnut and American Oak. It is a painted type finish actually quite thick.The lid is made of Chestnut. The front side of the chest is also Chestnut.The rear and the sides are oak.
