I managed to work a deal for a dry suit so I can dive in the winter now. Today, I tried it out for the first time, with Kevin - he gave me pointers on the new stuff I'll need to learn.
I really wrestled with the new equipment, and didnt have enough clothes on under the suit, and I wound up colder than I think I have ever been, I couldn't stop shaking for a half hour after I got out. Gotta work on that.
I didnt get much real time underwater, actually looking for bottles, probably only about 15 minutes, the rest of the time was wrestling with my mask, mostly, and my weight belt and the new inflating system for using the dry suit. It's a good suit, it will just take a while to get used to it.
But one things for sure, it's full of good luck !
I was near the end of my cold toleration, and saw this laying on the bottom. I thought it was a screw top "SQUIBB" bottle, because most of what we were seeing was on the new side. I thought the top was chipped and it had some of the metal cap still on it.
I ALMOST DIDNT PICK IT UP !
I did, and looked closer at the mouth, and thought that MAYBE it was an unembossed pontiled medicine., but I couldn't see it much as my mask was full of water. So I waded to the bank, and took off my mask to look at it. At that point, under the river scum I could BARELY see "arched" embossing, reading "PRICE". I thought, "the only bottle I know that has that on it is a Brinkerhoffs, and there's now way this is a Brinkerhoffs.
But " upon further review....." ( it's still soaking, so I dont know if there are any cracks etc)
