I found this poster or litho at an auction and picked it up for 7.50. I did some research and think its from the late 50s or 60s. Im not for sure, For all I know it could just be a repro. Its wrapped in plastic but its not a "professional" job. Its pretty much saran wrapped to a thicker piece of cardboard. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what it is and an age. Thanks!

I'd say 60s- early 70s from the font style... check ebay for bottles of that design that wouldgive you an idea of age.... price was right... nice score!

attached double cola website, history says the name was changed to double cola in 1953, shows the same bottle as your sign in 1957, looking like late 50 early 60's ...hit the dates on the website to view pics and datahttp://www.double-cola.com/history/

I think yours is real and most of the others are just new like the feed barn and Buvez...The Crush cap is a limited edition from the 90s by Seah Marketing,the Coke I vote is a fantasy/ newthe Camel might be something they run now.. Camel has a great signs and marketing.. they hadsome great looking vintage pin-up type pieces out a few years ago that are collectible already.... your sign was probably found in a stack in some vendor's storage... it's probably a thincardboard/paper window sign shrink wrapped to a piece of cardboard..

That's what I was leaning towards. I saw those 3 you were talking about sodapopbob before I bought mine, I think the color on those are a lot more vivid, or "new" looking colors were as mine is somewhat faded

I admit that I'm not sure if a fantasy item would have the Litho information on it, but this eBay seller sounds confident that his Double Cola sign is the real deal. So I am keeping an open mind about the sign being original until further notice. As for the three auction signs I posted, there was nothing mentioned about them being Lithos, but it would be interesting to get a closer look at them and see whether or not the DC-21 Litho U.S.A. is printed on them.

Here's the link to the eBay sign ...

[URL=http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Super-King-Size-DOUBLE-COLA-LITHO-SIGN-NEW-OLD-STOCK-1950s-GREAT-COLOR-/350995884581?nma=true&si=AwbLD33sRm2J6102AxJjJeTDN4c%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557]http://www.ebay.com/itm/R..._trksid=p2047675.l2557

And here's a portion of the seller's description ...

I DO NOT sell reproductions. THE SIGN IS LARGE MEASURING 24" x 18". THE SIGN IS MARKED ON THE BOTTOM, "DC-21 LITHO IN U.S.A.".

~ * ~

By the way, I did a search for DC-21 LITHO and the only thing I came up with is that I'm pretty sure the DC stands for DOUBLE COLA. But I'm not sure what the 21 stands for unless it is a series number of 21 different Double Cola signs. ???

P.S. If it hasn't already been done, one experiment would be to examine the paper with a magnifying glass and/or loupe and see if the colors are microscopic dots or a solid color? I believe a true Litho would be a series of disconnected dots.

It does have small dots on it, not one soldid color. Just checked after you posted that.
