Out woodcutting and nearly stepped on these. Ground is frozen but they pried out easy.
Will go back when it warms up a bit. Kind of cool to find anything on the surface in Febuary!

Hi rpinkham,
I'm still a fairly new member to this forum, but I've discovered that the search engine is our friend!!! [:)] Just click on the search feature, up top, on homepage. I would try "rootbeer extract", or "Hires extract", and You will probably find what you're looking for.

You might find some older stuff if you dig there, those date back pretty far.

And I thought I got poison ivy easily. I had no idea you could get it in winter. Damn I hate that plant. I've had it so bad before I've been to the hospital. Sucked it did.

Good eye. Sorry we didn't look any harder last time we were there. I guess there was a bit of snow on the ground. Did the homeowner give you permission to really dig or just kinda scratch around? Anyway, I throw up a picture of a Hires from my collection tomorrow.

There was a guy here years ago that was telling us that if you eat a piece of poison ivy that it will make you immune to it . And like a fool he took a couple of chews and of course his mouth and throat broke out with it as well as swelled up , and he darn near died from it . Talk about learning the hard way . And no ,,, it wasn't me lol .

Im highly allergic to it as well. I can spot it in all its seasons, look out for the version that grows up the trunks of trees(very easy to not pay attention to it). Every part of that plant year round will give you the rash. Im getting itchy just thinking about it. Those are promising finds for the surface.

Here's the little tooled lip Hires I found. Pretty common, but I like the embossing a lot.
