Irony, aint that a funny thing..............................sometimes it aint.
Monday I was in Aiken on busniess, drove across town to eat. Walk into a restaurant, and run into a fellow Horsecreek Bottle Club member. Well we talk bottles for about half and hour, he tells me about a bottle I was completly unaware of. It was a 'Fulmers', clear bottle w/ a red and white lable.
Before I walk out of the door Friday heading for the show I put it on my list of bottles I need............and we are off to the show.
Get to the show around 10:30 talk w/ Randy a second, then he says "They are letting them in.". Well I make a bee line to the door.............go straight to the Mr. Calhoun 'The Pepsi Man's' table and............................................................
DAMN it the 'Evil One' Jimmie Woods w/ the above described bottle in his hand. AWWWWWWWWWWW MANNNNNNNNNNNN a major bummer. He just laughs, I didn't think it was to funny.
Yall see now why I refer to him as the 'Evil One'? I don't know him on a personal level, just as a fellow collector, but damn he can get em, and hates to part w/ anything.
Latter I ask the 'Pepsi Man' why he did not sell it to me when I was at his house three weeks earlier? He says "Pat it was in the box you pulled the other two bottles from, you were just blinded by those two." I guess I was.
Now it was less funny.
............................. and for $8.00 bucks still much less funnier
Ok, I am gonna bitch some. Bought this from a guy who I thought was a friend. I've got 900 bottles on display and a photo album w/ them all so I know what I have and won't buy a duplicate. Well I wasn't toting my album Friday morning. Saw this bottle from McCormick, S.C., paid a fair amount for it as McCormick is a really small town and the bottle dates from 1949. Get home and I alredy have it. Went Saturday to see if he would swap for something else he had........................................well let me tell. He better hope I never have nothing he needs.
