I haven't posted any finds in a good while, but it doesn't mean I haven't been digging and finding things!
First up is a very late throw, discovered after I opened up a productive section in my late 20s to perhaps 1931 dump. This, and the other good finds (I'll take pics later), were all from layers I'd date to 1929-1927.
"Bragg's Arctic Liniment"
Imagine my surprise when I pulled this applied-lip beauty out after going through almost nothing but ABMs! When I wiped it off and saw the embossing and very crude gloppy top I hoped to find a pontil too, but it seems to have just missed it. Ah well, still cool as heck for being ~ 60 years old when it was tossed!
Next is a very old local bottle cap, which excited me a great deal when discovered. I was helping a friend clean his basement, and asked to check out the crawlspace under his front porch. House was built around 1905 so I went in hoping for some good bottles. Found plenty of junk flasks from the 30s, some with decent labels, but the gem was on the opposite end.
I almost missed it; laying upside-down in the soft dust, and didn't expect anything too interesting as i was flipping it over, thinking "meh, probably a 50's coke cap or something".
Instead, I found a wonderfully well-preserved pre-1919 crown cap from the local Leisy Brewery of Peoria, IL! I sold a set of 1960s coke baseball player caps a while back and pretty much all looked worse/more oxidized than this! In this case, the thick layer of dust was a godsend, not an annoyance. Had it been right-side-up it would have been junk. I've never seen a pre-pro bottle cap before (well, one not rusted to death or with a design).
But, you may ask, how do you know it is a Leisy cap from Peoria (as it indicates neither)?
Well, here it is next to an advertising mug from the brewery:
And here it is next to some of the BIM beers themselves!

So, do any of you have Pre-Pro bottle caps, or any pictures of them? I'd like to see what else is out there.
