Amber Snuff Bottles with dots

My husband is a surveyor and has found a LOT of bottle treasures in SE Texas. He has many of these amber snuff bottles and we have learned that the dots on the bottom designate the strength. We are wondering why there are different configurations on these four 4 dots...is there a way to date these? Sharing only one he has with a scrap of a label...Levi Garrett & Sons? He has never found a 1 dot bottle...is it rare? Thanks for any information.

My late father, dipped Levi Garrett & Sons snuff and also W.E. Garrett snuff, Levi's son. I did not collect them back then, but I would have many questions to ask him since he started dipping around 1927. He would have seen several distinct shapes. In my still-growing collection, I have 22 bottles with 0, or no dots on the bottom, 19 with 1 dot, 41 with 2 dots, 67 with 3 dots, and 103 with 4 dots. Overall, the bottles come in three heights, and 3 distinct shapes, a flat bottom, a convex bottom, and a concave bottom. There are numerous configurations of the dots on all bottles with dots, and mold lines on many of the older bottles, I collect them if the circular marks a different on the base as well. There are other criteria I also go by in quest. Many of the oldest bottles were hand-blown into a mold and possess pontil marks from this process. From what I have researched, the making of hand-blown bottles stopped around 1850. What I have not found out yet is when, where, or what glass company made them. I hope to find out someday. I still look for bottles that I do not have.
