Is an Americus, GA straight sided coke bottle in general really rare, or, are there different variations that make some much more valuable than others? The reason I ask, I found the bottle pictured below while deer hunting in about 20 miles from Americus a couple of years ago and thought it was about a $50 bottle. Great! Now I see someone with a very similar one on Ebay asking $1000 for it. What's the difference? I realize I can ask any amount I want on ebay, but is there something about his bottle that justifies a high dollar asking price? I really hope his asking price, or something even close, is justified and that mine is just like his. $20 would be a gracious plenty for that bottle in that condition, especially it being ABM. People ask some ridiculous prices for their stuff, hoping some sucker will buy it. Usually, by the time a collector is to the point of spending that much money, he or she is a bit more educated. Some of the tooled-top examples, in attic mint condition, yeah I'd say $50. That would apply to all Americus variants with the big exception of the one that has "AMERICUS / BOTTLING CO. / AMERICUS, GA." in round slug plate on the front, and "Coca-Cola" in script near the bottom on the back.
