My stream of Hoxsie bottles got longer this week when the Stevens & Mandeville arrived in the mail. From my research I am aware of two that I am missing. A dark amber Hoxsie's Premium Beer and a Hennessy & Nolan with the "OXSI" logo on the back. I missed the H+N a couple of weeks ago on Ebay. Didn't see it listed and was very willing to pay the price for it. Stevens and Mandeville are the successors to George W Hoxsie and they sold at least the brand to Hennessy and Nolan in about 1873.
The Westport Bottling Works bottle is a Hand tooled Crown. I have been able to identify the Schultheis brothers and where their house and factory were located. They appear to be the third and final owner of that name. Andrew and William owned it from maybe 1907 to 1910 at the latest. By the time the 1910 census was taken they had different jobs and had different job listings in the KC city directory. I only knew the company existed because of my ongoing research of Kansas City sodas. Anybody have a hutch with Faivre's Root Beer on it? Any other Kansas City sodas or beers?
