Another mystery bottle from the Atlantic.

No manufacturers mark. No seam. Very heavy. 12 3/4” high 3 5/16” at base.

Did you find it along the shore?

Yes. It was 3/4 buried on the shore that faces the wide expanse of Atlantic Ocean between Florida Keys and Cuba. Any clue what kind of bottle it is? I couldn’t find anything through Google lens that had as wide of a bump out on the throat near the top. I’m thinking probably late 1800’s due to weight and no seam but not positive.

I was thinking that maybe it was a prohibition era European made bottle.
I'm not seeing much if any crudeness in the bottle. Europe did lag behind the US when it came to changing over to machine made bottles.
Just a guess though; it is a lovely shape with that expanded neck.

Thanks Semar. I have found a lot of prohibition era bottles in this area. Pretty well known bootleg pipeline from Cuba or other Caribbean countries.

Same here on Cape Cod; you find them in the hollows behind the dunes or coming out of the dunes themselves.

Looks earlier than that to me-1880's or 1890's and maybe Dutch. Looks similar to some of the Heering bottles.

so amazing that they survive the ocean. Glass is so fragile but tough at the same time. beautiful bottle
