I know its not a bottle, but maybe someone has info. This was given to us by my aunte, she said it belonged to my grandmother who came from Romania. I was told it is over 125 years old. Its trimed in sterling silver and is eched glass
Hi Larry. I suspect that in order to give you any definitive information this beautiful piece will probably have to be examined up close and in person by someone very experienced. I would think visits to several upscale Antique shops would be your best bet or pay an Antique appraiser for an appraisal. I believe even someone who really knows these items will have trouble giving an honest answer just by your picture. My opinion is worth what it just cost you to get it. []
Welcome to the A-BN, and thanks for bringing this centerpiece or fruit bowl. What are it's dimensions? If Sterling, it should have a hallmark somewhere.
I cannot make out the pattern, or motif from your photo. Is it footed?
Silver overlay for the most part isn't all that valuable. If it's hallmarked by a good silversmith or the glass is signed by a sought after maker, that can change.
It does need a personal evaluation rather than a picture.
how do you know its sterling if it isnt marked?
Sterling is almost always marked by some sort of hall mark or fineness mark.
Most countries required it by law.
