Any idea what this bottle is? Cologne, after shave, ink...?

I came across this bottle and thought that it was kind of neat. It definitely looks very old. It has a bluish milky tint, almost translucent around the bottom edge. The top is silver and stuck closed. It had a blue design painted on it that has mostly worn off. Any thoughts on what kind of bottle this is and it's age?

Yes. It is but wont opening because of some rust. I don't want to try and force it because I'm afraid it might break.

Not a cold cream jar, it would be nearly impossible to get your fingers into the whole jar thru such a small opening, I'm thinking ink too...

I'm leaning towards ink or after shave. Makes sense about the opening being too small for face cream. I'm thinking this bottle is older than pond's anyway because of the grooves on the bottom of the glass and no seams. I love the color. Maybe opaline?

In the world of glass Opaline gives mixed messages. Some say it the same as milk glass, some say different but many just don't care that much for the term at all. I'd call that milk glass.
I'd suggest spraying a bit of WD40® on the hinge, latch and where it closes and leave it upside down overnight. If you get it open you may find out for sure what was in it.

I think the lid will have to come off to be able to tell for sure. Is it a small hole or a larger one? That is the question.

Ok. I'll oil it tonight and try to open tomorrow. I'll keep you updated and add a pic if I can get it open.
