I have one of these "sauce" bottles. Mine was imported from England along with other low-end, Late Victorian bottles.
My example has a flat place on the side that spans two ridges. No doubt, this was for a small label. The lip is applied.
Amazingly enough, this bottle seems to have a pontil scar! I would call it a "sand pontil," and very fine sand it is! It is almost invisible, but it is enough to shred a fingernail dragged across it.
I have seen another one of these. A dealer (who sells bottles) has been trying to sell it at big antique shows for some outrageous price -- $120, IIRC.
