attic find

while cleaning out the attic of an old victorian house built in 1883 recently I came across several items of interest , this being one. I dont have any idea what it is. any one know or have a good guess? It is exactly 6 in. around and the smaller opening is 2and 1/4in. across . the wire is very stiff and looks like it held something? on .around the bottom it is embossed with"THE ANGLE MANUFACTURING CO. NEW YORK USA"

Maybe some of us have bigger heads than others. But, unless you butter my ears real good, my head is not fittin' into any space helmet that is 6 inches round!![&:]

My guess would be a light fixture of some sort. Just a hypothesis. Robert

It could also be something that had early duct work, and the wire was to hold the duct. Robert

WOW thank you all for the info , it all comes together now the red globe fits on the clear one and the clear globe fits on the fixture that was there ,thanks again
