Went back down to the riverfront a couple weeks back...beach has silted up from the warm weather and the tide didn't go out very far, so prospects for finding bottles weren't too good...
When faced with cheesy tides like this, I usually just scout the higher silt free areas of the beach real well for small stuff, buttons and indian head pennies can often be found...looks like a coin!
It's a shame a metal detector is useless here. This is why - brass & copper nail/screw/doodad wasteland...I pick up the bigger bits, usually get a couple pounds of scrap...
