Here's a very odd jar I got at a yard sale today. It is ABM, clear, 4.5" tall and embossed on shoulder Baumans Blue Bags and Jelly Quick on other side. The size and form do not seem right at all for pectin. It kind of looks like a store display jar but seems way too small for that. The lid doesn't fit very well but I believe it is original. I don't expect it to have much value, but what the heck is it??? I thought for a quarter, it was worth it to post on here to see if anyone knows. I'm guessing it is 1910-30 era

I think it held little packages of gelatin, I saw a newspaper ad for them, 8-10 cents a package back in 1915 in Titusville Pa.

Like Charlie said it's a cool little jar, the top doesn't seem right to me at all though...

Hey Todd,

You always find great stuff. I think this is a promotional item.
If you look at The Beaver Times of March 27, 1900, column 2,
first ad for "Bauman's Jelly Quick:

One 15 cent box makes 2 quarts of
finest desert. For sale by all grocers,
2 gold fish and globe free. 28-2"

Makes me wonder about those gold fish...

There ya go, it's an advertizing gold fish bowl! That means the lid is probably not a match..

Thanks everyone, and in record time too! Mystery solved. It's a promotional gold fish jar given with the gelatin, which I'm sure did not come with a lid.
