Almost always, a decent bottle on ebay will get the immediate notice of the ebay sharks and quite often result in a last minute sniping frenzy. There are very few steals to be had. But every now and again, usually because of a title and/or description some how not formulated to the seller's best advantage, a buyer can find a real bargain. The only such ebay buy I've been able to manage is a CRUMPTON'S HORSE LINIMENT bottle. It's aqua, with an inward rolled lip, about 4 inches high, cylindrical, and with an op scar - the typical 19th century liniment bottle. The condition is untumbled, sparkling mint. Those of you who collect medicines probably are familiar with CRUMPTON'S STRAWBERRY BALSAM originating in Attica, Indiana. I believe his horse liniment is the tougher bottle to find. I paid $20.35 including shipping. It probably would sell for $300 plus at auction.

Anyone else want to share his or her best ebay steal?

My best was a sapphire blue iron pontiled Davis and Miller Druggists Baltimore Thanks to poor description and very poor pictures I paid $676 with shipping. I was the underbidder at $4500 on the other known example in a Glass works auction about a year before. Needless to say I was very pleased when the box arrived. Not quite as nice as the glassworks example but for the price I paid i don't really care.

Daaaaaaang, mine is nowhere near those in price but I like it and I think I got it for a steal. I paid a whopping 99cents for it plus about 3 bucks for shipping.

I got this teal blue/teal Buffalo Mineral Springs Water off of ebay for $75. I know that they have sold in the past for over $200 and no it is not a repro.
