I think you are referring to a different Bob Okla. I'm not a big ACL guy myself but it does look to be in great shape, it has a cool Indian head on it, and it's going gangbusters (approx $220).
If you are referring to me, I have been watching the Navajo Land bottle since the day it was listed. It has been on my want list for at least ten years. The few that have surfaced in recent years were in pretty rough shape, but this one is a true bute and the best looking example I have ever seen. Had there not been any early bidders I might have bid $150 on it, but now its become a bit of a quandary for me. Even though I want it more than anything, I will have to give it some serious thought as to just how much I am willing to bid, if anything. ???
Thanks for the tip. I appreciate it.
According to Rick Sweeney's acl book, a "profile" Navajo Land bottle sold in 1993-94 for $370
Last but not least is this one that I don't have but also want and am looking for in near-mint condition. Notice the mounted "Chief" is holding a soda pop bottle ...
Since the cat is already out of the bag regarding the Navajo Land bottle, I don't mind pointing out that bidder m***m seems determined to make it his own, which I find interesting considering he has never won or sold anything on eBay before. He has obviously placed a maximum bid that is currently negating all bids that have followed. I feel bad for bidder a***g who had to place eight bids just to see where things stand. Its bidding like that which often pushes the amount up beyond what an item might actually be worth. But who is to say what the bottle's true value is? If one sold in 1993 for $370 does that mean its worth double that now? Or is it the bottle's beautiful near-mint condition that is causing the so called frenzy? I have a sneaking suspicion that m***m's current limit is $300. And it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see bidder a***g show up again to find that out. But for me the most important questions are ...
1. What is the bottle's true value? $300? ~ $400? ~ $500?
and ...
2. If the bottle is indeed worth $300+, am I prepared to pay that amount in order to add it to my collection?
