Well all, we went Sunday and explored the site I was told about, The Excavators had some HUGE piles of dirt dug up. We found a dozen whole bottles just lying around on top. We dug around for almost 7 hours and found a few keepers. It was not as old as we would have liked but it was a GREAT experience. Here come a few pic's

This Boston Beer is the one I really liked the most. And it was at the very TOP of the pile left by the BIG Cat 235 excavator

Hi Mike, You managed to snag a couple of decent bottles. If you can do it without getting yelled at, I always try to walk a construction site and the spoils pile if the area seems to hold some promise. You never can tell what the heavy equipment will turn over. Some construction people that worked the Big Dig really cleaned up on good old bottles, but in New England towns, I think just about any excavation has potential.

In a couple of pictures there appeared to be layers. Do you think the construction site you were in is over an old dump, or did they just hit a couple of privies while prepping the property?

Thanks for the pics and the update. - billm

Hey Bill, We never even had anyone ask what we were doing! We did have permission and I had the business card of the super with all his contact information just in case. There is no doubt to me that this whole place was indeed a dump, There was LOTS of ash everywhere. But I was taken a bit back at the lask of broken shards? I think the big pile was on the center and what we had to work with was the edges. The other thing is that the ash that we dug was VERY packed. I am thinking that there was a parkin lot on top of the dump.
