This is a general post to find out more about a bottle I have. I haven't found out much about it but I have it because of the mold makers errors and it is a beauty.
I have a neat old square bottle with beveled vertical corners. It was made in a bottom hinged key mold with seams going up to the neck. The glass is a Stoddard red, if I ever saw one. The finish has a tooled straight taper about ¾†vertical length. The embossing is on a single panel as: “/ C.A.RICHARDS & CO â€
over “/ 99 WASHINGTON. ST â€
over “/ BOSTON â€
The mold makers errors in this bottle is that all three N’s were reversed and the & sign was turned 90 degrees to the left, so it lookis like a U with the curl on the left top of it. The bottle has some neat old bubbles, cold mold ripple, and is otherwise perfect. The bottom has a 2†x 1/8†domed cavity and the sides appear to have been held in a snap case for the finish work.
Any advise appreciated. RED Matthews
