Hi,
I have several bottles from shipwrecks off the Northeast USA coast. None as nice as my friends. These are from an 1886 shipwreck called the SS Oregon. The Oregon was a luxury ocean liner of it's day. It sank after a collision with an unidentified schooner in 1886.
He has a Ross S Belfast bottle that I am familiar with ( see pic). He also recovered 2 medicine bottles.
1 is 5 1/4 ' by 2' octogon shaped. It says ,
" THE BROMPTON
CONSUMPTION &
COUGH SPECIFIC
1/0SIZE"
The other is 5 3/4" by 1 7/8' . On 1 side it says CASTORIA
On the other side it appears tio say in fancy script, : Chas. H. Fletcher's
It also says 114 on the bottom. Any info on the medicine bottles would be appreciated.
My friend is retired and asked me to sell them. How do I value them? Are they more valuable because of the shipwreck? I want them myself. But I can't tell him that because he won't take any money from me.
Thanks for any help

Hello, I am new here myself but can tell you that I have 3 or 4 of the Castoria bottles just like the one your showing. Mine are only worth a $1 or so. Yours may sell for a bit more because of the History/Story behind it. Sorry I can't add any more to help.

Yes, the Fletcher's castoria and the Belfast bottle are common and not worth much money.
Maybe you can post a better picture of the other bottle and show the bottom of the bottle.
Are these all the bottles he has?

Dallas,
Thanks for the info. They are what they are.

Woody, I'll post a better pic tommorow of the other bottle with the bottom.

There are more bottles but not identified yet as to which wreck they came from.

Here's a pic of the bottom of the Brompton bottle. The bottle itself is 5 1/4" by 2" octogon shaped. On one side it says,
" THE BROMPTON
CONSUMPTION &
COUGH SPECIFIC
1/0SIZE"
Any info would be appreciated.
