An auction, today, produced some very nice jars.
The straight pint will go into the crude collection. It has very good glass texture and a swirl right thru the embossing.
The midget is strong ball blue, whittled and very near perfect. The lid has a skirt and is made of brass.
George

Hey George,

You're still on fire! That's the first of that type lid that I've seen. Would like to know the rest of the story...

I wish that the lid was marked. It looks like it was designed to seal on the shoulder of the jar, in the skirt area. It may have been an experimental piece (just a guess). This lid is a perfect fit on the shoulder of this jar. I do not think that the lid had a liner.

It looks like I am going to have to invest in some expensive research materials. I don't have a copy of Dick Roller's research work and there is a new, revised edition available.

Yes, that old luck is sizzling. When you find some midgets (anywhere) there are usually more jars than lids. This lot had more lids (midget) than jars! One lid was a Snowflake inside and out. The other is the correct lid for the NCL.[8D][;)][:D][:)]

That midget lid looks to be an early unlined lid. If so, it's a pretty valuable lid, listed at $200-$400 in the Redbook. It won't have the typical porcelain liner. Your luck is unbelievable lately. Congrats. I've got a correct lid for that Marion that I'll let go. PM me if interested.
