I have looked everywhere for any info on this big amber med. It is appx 8 3/4" tall and it has a rather larger thick crude neck . It has PPP Prickley Ash Poke Root Potassium The Great Blood Purifier on the front panel the sides and rear are not embossed. I have looked online in books etc and can't find anything. It came out from under a 1800's era Saloon when the building was torn down. The neck is different very crude and very thick. I have had and dug Prickley Ash Bitters but never seen this one. I have had a couple of people to try and trade or buy it so if anyone can give me info I would appreciate it. History Rarity Value etc. I may just shelf it but would like anything info wise even if I do that. Thanks in advance DM

Hey McDirt,

Good to see you digging, sir. Can't speak to value, though I know where you can get one for 20 New Jersey dollars.

It was a product of the Lippman Brothers, Lippman's Block, Savannah, GA. There's an upper left hand advertisement in this issue of the Brenham Weekly Banner, of August 20, 1891.

Here's another ad with testimonials from the Bradford County Telegraph, April 26, 1895. Again in the upper left corner.

It cured everything from Sore Eyes to Syphilis to St. Anthony's Fire: "(On carton) "P. P. P. * * * Valuable Remedy for Syphilis and Scrofulas
and is recommended for Rheumatism, Gout, Old Sores, Glandular Enlarge
ments, and all conditions arising from Blood Poison."
(,On bottle) " P. P. P., * * * The Great Blood Purifier."
(On circular) " Liver Complaints, and all other concomitant symptoms, such
as Jaundice, Headache, Bilious Eruptions, Indigestion,- Languor and General
Derangement of the System * * *
" For Dyspepsia, Indigestion, Biliousness, Loss of Appetite, Sick Head
ache * * *
" For St. Anthony's Mre, Rose or Erysipelas, Tetter, Pimples, Salt Rheum,
Scald Head * * *
" After Diphtheria, Scarlet Fever, Typhoid Fever and Pneumonia, * * *
" Nervousness, nervous headaches and nervous dyspepsia * * *
" Eczema, Herpes, Psoriasis, Ringworm, Camp Itch. * * * Distress after
eating, pains in the back, headache * * *
" Enlargement, Ulceration and Exfoliation of the Bones. Diseases of the
Heart, Dyspepsia, Fits, Epileptic Fits, Neuralgia, Melancholy, Sore Eyes,
Dropsy and Dropsical Swellings * * *
" Syphilis and Scrofula * * *
" For Tumors, Ulcers and Sores * * *
" For Skin Diseases, Eruptions, Pustules, * * * Boils * * *
" * * * all diseases of the blood, bones and tissues, the kidneys and blad??
der, the bowels, stomach and digestive organs, the heart and nervous system,
the generative organs of either sex, the lungs and bronchials, the mouth,
throat and nasal cavities, and in all cases of animal or vegetable blood poison-
ins
" Necrosis of the Bone. * * * Ulcerated or swollen glands, abscesses
* * * carbuncles * * * hip disease, white swelling, King's evil, sore
eyes of scrofulous origin, kidney and liver disease * * * "
It was alleged in the libel that the article was misbranded for the reason
that the words and figures so declared, marked, printed, branded, and?
labeled on the cartons, packages, bottles, and circular as aforesaid were mis
leading, false, and fraudulent, and that the article was misbranded regarding
the curative and therapeutic effects of said article..." From the 1918 Misbranding suit.

There's a lot of herbal lore that would have one believe that the ingredients were effective for blood purifying and lesser complaints.

My pal pokeweed. Small amounts if prepared right is quite beneficial. Raw is kind of poisonous though.
