Can anyone identify this red bottle?

I have this bottle that looks like black glass but when you put it up to light it looks red(maybe amber but more redish). What year? I was told 1860's once. Too bad it has a chip in the lip.

This bottle would date 1890 -1900 and would more than likely have held Hock (similar to Riesling) Here in Australia there are bottles in the same shape that are embossed Hock with a manufacture brand,

Trogg you could be right..but I think "HOCK" as in HOCK wine is a shortened GERMAN name for "HOCKAMORE" a white wine from the RHINE REGION..also HOCK WINE bottles I think are tall but not big around.I have one that is 11 1/2 and 2 and 1/2 wide at the bottom..which is as wide as it gets..This does look like a bottle alcohol came in...JAMIE

The embossing on one brand we have here in South Australia is Aulds Squat Hock and have also seen non embossed bottles with labels also mentioning Hock.
