I got these Crown jars a while ago for a dollar a piece and was wondering what people knew about them. I know that Dominion glass company started putting their logos on bottles and jars in 1928 and that Crown started putting made in Canada on their jars in the same year. These jars do not have the Dominion glass company logo or made in Canada on them. But all of my other Crown jars have the Dominion glass company logo on them and say made in Canada. This suggests that these jars were made in or before 1928, but I'm not 100% sure. In the first picture I have them lined up from what I think is the oldest to the newest based on the embossing. The one farthest to the left has the weakest embossing, so it could be the oldest, but again I don't know. The two bigger jars have newer lids, since both lids have the Dominion glass company logo and what I believe is a date code below the crown, since on my other Crown jars the date on the bottom, the Dominion date code and the lid number all match. All of the jars have a light blue tinge to them. The smallest jar on the end may still have the original lid since it is the only one that has a small light blue tinge and is the only one missing made in Canada and the Dominion glass company logo. It also appears to have an older version of the crown logo. As far as I know there's no way to tell if the metal band is original or not. On the first two jars it says Crown Imperial PT. Under the t in PT there's a small Dash. On the third jar it just says crown. The second and third jar has numbers below the crown logo. The second jar has a three and the third has a 5. I'm not sure if this is a mould number or a date code. If it's a date code I'd say the second one is made in 1923 and the third in 1925. The first jar which is the farthest one to the left has no number on it at all. The second and third jar also has a small line connected to the c in Crown. The jars towards the right side also has more and bigger air bubbles in them. I have also provided a picture of a 1933 crown PT Imperial jar which has made in Canada and the Dominion glass company logo. I am looking for an approximate date on the jars and a value just to see how I did. I would also like to know if there's any way to tell when a jar was made based on the variations in the Crown logo. Any information at all is much appreciated.

I also forgot to mention that the lid I think is original or at least older does have a very faint number on it. It looks like it's a backwards three and then possibly a one, so the last two pictures of lids is the same lid front and back if you turn it to the back side the three is the right way. I don't know if that line is a one or just a mark in the glass because all of my other lids have numbers and it is always a single digit. It would also be weird that the number is not centered under the crown, so I think it's just the three.

crowns are tough to determine without really good pics but your last one looks like a #695-5 or a 696-2 in the red book (depends on if the lip is ground or smooth. either way its listed as 2-4 bucks. pictures on a neutral background would help as on some of them its the number of dots around the crown that make a difference.

Thanks for the info. If you want I can count the dots around the crown.
