The greasy V is the Varsity! I used to live a few blocks from there. It is closed now. The family sold the land to developers. They are going to build again but this time in Oconee County. I would love to help you one weekend. I live in Norcross but Carlton is not too far.

Yes, it was near the bottom of a long, descending, major thoroughfare on the left side of the street. Sorry, can't remember the name. Great memories. Also, danced in a downtown nightclub to REM before they hit the big time. --Won't give up too much else here. Maybe later ...
