Rare? I don't think it's a rare piece, but it's certainly a scarce piece. While there aren't enough people who collect them to warrant a high price, it will take a decent price, if it were up to me. I used to collect inks and know how scarce they are, but, sorry, I can't even estimate what the current price would be. You've got a very nice Carter's there.

Heck no, Charles,

Where you gonna find another for that kinda dough. Reggie sez it's a Keeper.

"9. CARTERS Fountain Ink

Clear glass, height 2", BIM with ground lip, fountain style inkwell with 16 panel dome, figure 1300 in Covill's ink book, has full label on top of dome that is only missing a bit of the edges, label reads "CARTER'S MUCILAGE / RESERVOIR", mint condition with just the typical chipping on lip that results from manufacturing process of grinding the lip, item I#159, Keeper." From Reggie.

I agree with Reggie and you. It's a beaut!

That's a beautiful ink, Virginia. And it also goes to show that the gather can get pinched between mold halves. Looks just like a "half-leaf" of all things. Hmmmm...

They seem to run around $40 or so, in good shape. They should be more. They aren't particularly common. A decent ink.
