I just found an advertising booklet c1890 for Chapin's Spavin Cure and Chapin's Cough Cure. These were veterinary medicines but I have never seen either. Does anyone have an example of these bottles? thanks for any additional information.

A Chapin's Spavin cure sold on ebay about 2 years ago for $26. It is 6", rect. clear (see photo). I've never seen reference to a Chapins Cough Cure. Where was this company located? Could you post some images from the advertising that you have?
There are some cool looking items in your auction catalogs!.

Hey Doc, Welcome to the forum. I had wondered if you were already a member here and just did not check in regularly.

Mark.
thanks for the photo. I'm new to the forums, so is it ok to copy your photo?
The booklet did not have any images, but I can copy the title page and post it.
The bottle is from New York. Will dig it back out and give you the name of the maker and the town.

Melinda, thanks for the good word. If anyone needs info on any veterinary medicines, let me know.

Mike,
Sure, you can copy it. I saved the photo from the ebay listing. I try to save any photos of cures that I don't have when I run across them on the web, so I'll know what they look like. The Chapins Spavin cure is listed in Bill Agee's book "Collecting All Cures".

Have you ever seen or heard of a "Hillemann's American Chicken Cholera Cure Arlington, Minn." or better yet know where I can get one? I guess it didn't work on foreign chickens.<G>

Mark,
the Chapin's spavin Cure and Chapin's Cough Cure were made by Dr. David Laurentine Chapin from Edmeston, New York.
He was born 1/24/1849 in Edmeston. He married Julia Dutton in 1872
and had a second wife Eva McIntire in 1893. His last child by Eva was born in 1899. I have not been able to get a date
for his death yet.

The booklet has testimonials from the early 1890's. Apparently, he only produced these two veterinary cures and no other medicines.
