When I search for any info on this Seipp's bottle the only bottles that come up are nothing close to it. I would like to know the approx. age, and would also like to know if bottles like this with one the "CHICAGA" error are common or not. Considering Chicago's size, I would think they are somewhat common.
Thanks for any help!!!!

Hey Jughed,
The style of your bottle would likely date it between 1900 (TOC) and prohibition (1919). Because there are many many many beers like this from Chicago, it is not a particularly valluable style of bottle. However, the error is neat and that alone will make it collectible. If it is rare as well, you might have something decent. But that, I don't know.

As far as the spelling goes, maybe it was an east coast glass maker that called the town "Chicaga". [:D]

Could be the glass house boss never left New York, and somehow never heard of Chicago... Then when he told the carver to carve the mold with "Chicago" on it, he heard "Chicaga" and carved it like that! Very weird error.

Actually Jughed,
I respectfully disagree. When I saw your 'not rare' verdict, I was guessing that it didn't sell for a buck. When I saw that it went for $14 with $5.30 in shipping - I think that means that it is at least rare. Those bottle types from Chicago - like a Tosetti or a Garden City - are worth a buck apiece tops. This one went for nearly twenty times that when you factor in the shipping. Certainly, you can't retire on the profits, but really, not all that bad considering . . .
