Someone recently mentioned clear Coke bottles as being sent to our boys overseas in WWII.
Is this one of them, or something else? I've always liked the sparse design, but don't have a clue what it is. Thanks! Bob
I wonder if the ones sent to VIETNAM were different in any way? I am sure they had cans ,but I know they had bottles too, at least fairly early on.I worked with a guy that was over there in 1965 or 66 and when he had 8 days left on his tour ,his sargent came in the barracks and told the guy I worked with he was going out with some new guys. My friend informed the sargent ,that no he wasn't either cause with his luck he would get killed with only 8 days to go and besides didn't nobody hold his hand when he arrived in VIETNAM.The sargent wanted to argue some more, but my friend threw a COKE BOTTLE he was drinking out of ,at the sargent and that was that!Would love to have one.
OK,I remember he told me the last movie he saw before going to VIETNAM was CAT BALLOU and I looked it up and it came out in 1965,so he was there from sometime in 65 to 66.
Thanks for the responses!
I'm happy to have an id on the WWII bottle, and this turned out to be a more interesting subject than I was thinking it would be.
What about those 'nam bottles? Were they specially made? And how about Korea, too? Any input appreciated! Bob
