Ink Dudes...2 1/4" tall by 2" dia by 1 3/4" base and top and 1 1/2" applied spout. It is blown in mold and the bottom has lots a wear. Anybody seen anything like this before? Got it at a Wisconsin Auction.

Not a rare form for teakettle ink, but a nice form, particularly in cobalt. Good bottle. I rarely see them go for less than about $300.

Hello falconer,

I looked for your beautiful ink in several of my books and only found it in one.
I realize that lots of forum members are very opinionated on Kovels' but it does have a TeaKettle Barrel 2 1/4 " c. 1885, listed for $1430.00
I'm sure there will be responses from those who have more knowledge than I but I thought I'd send this on anyway.

Regards,

Thank you all for great responses. This is the first I've seen and I collect inks. I do not own a copy of Covill's and wonder if anyone could find it in his listings. One more photo to tantalize.

Covill Fig 1286 appears to be the same form. Covill listed that one as 2 1/16" tall, which is pretty close. That one has the cap, which yours doesn't.

You won't see the $1430 that the price guide posted above says. I would think $500 to $600 would be about a max.

Nice ink though.

This exact style in Medium Amethyst with brass collar and cap sold in the Watt White auction in 1997 for $1,450. I believe the amethyst color would command a bit more money as would the fact it was complete and correct. My guess is a value of $800 - $1,000.
