Hello all,
Found these today. Paid $60 for the lot. I love stoneware and am trying to learn more. Is the amber one a slip glaze? And looking for some info on the company L & B G Chase Somerset which is stamped on the cobalt blue one. ...what the heck were they trying to do on the front[:D][:D][:D].
Thanks all. Lastly any idea on time period for em.

Here is the only info I have found so far on a different jug.

SOMERSET POTTERS WORKS JUG
by Somerset Potters Works aka L.& B. G. Chase Pottery. The pottery was in business in Somerset Massachusetts during the years 1847 - 1882. The shape and exuberant cobalt decoration in the form of an urn of flowers would place the manufacture of this jug circa 1850.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I contacted someone who knows stoneware and here is the email. Either or they are for the personal collection but I am very pleased.

Hi Ben Both pieces date around 1860, blue decoration is just a simple floral used by the Chase brothers. The brown jug is covered with Albany slip brown glaze prior to firing, both pieces are salt glazed fired.
