Hello to all. I'm not actually a collector, but I have an interesting piece that I just can't seem to identify. It's obviously old (I'm assuming pre-1900s), but there are very few distinguishing features.

It's a conic shaped medium amber bottle with an odd grid pattern covering most of the wall, with the exception of a section on the lower half. Also, there is what appears to be an off-center number "4" on the bottom. Since the bottle appears to be pre-recycling era, I'm going to assume it's not a recycling number. Any help anyone could give in identifying the thing would be appreciated.

Here are some pictures of it:

Hello, welcome to this forum. I'd have to say it's a hock wine. I'm not sure though. I'd say Italian and in the 1920 age range. Maybe someone else can check in. This is just a guess.

I don't think it was wine, but I do think European, probably Italian, and early 20th century.. might have held a cordial or liqueur or some sort of mixer.. maybe balsamic vinegar.. how tall is the bottle??

It's about a foot tall and three inches wide at the base.
