Hi, new here. It was suggested that I post up here to help me make decisions as to purchasing authentic bottles.

I am going to do it guerrilla style and just put up all the bottles I am watching.
Any input is appreciated and please don't snipe these from me :)
My primary concerns are, is it real and what is overpriced? I don't mind paying a bit more if I like the piece, but I'm not about to be a fool.
I'll tell you why I like the bottle, or what my concerns are with the listing - at least you can help me develop a wish list and advise what is just plain silly.

Any comment on the sellers too, even in a PM, would be helpful so I save them.

I like this, and the fact that it's abbott

Glass stopper, a purple seal, not sure if it would end up at a decent price

Love poison bottles, looks like a nice little find for me if it stays this cheap - or it's fake, glass looks very nice

Seems like Ely Lilly may be common, but are there rare lilly bottles to seek? Is the cannabis one real? Looks like to my untrained eye

Cool poison bottle for the price, but new cork it seems, is it then worth anything?

These are expensive, but are they worth it? I'm reading mixed thoughts on the salvation oil, and the radia I can't find too much reading on other than they are expensive and could have trace radiation.

This is rough, but I just kind of love it and the era too. Is this real?

This looks well kept, I like the look - not sure how much I'd pay though.

Thanks for looking!
I look forward to learning.

*also, what is most important, in order, when bottle searching..
Glass damage
No/work cork/top
Stained/missing labels

How does the importance rank? I love clean labels and would sacrifice a chipped lip, but how does my thought stack up to a collector's thoughts?

sfw911 has been trying to sell some of these bottles for months, some of the labels look very sketchy, stopper doesn't go with that heroin bottle. Personally I'd avoid most of his stuff, it has been selling for a reason...

Damage always hurts, the more of the original label the better, stoppers are good to have but no cork means nothing, you can always go buy a cork if you think it adds to the bottles look, which I don't. It really comes down to you and how much you like or want a bottle. when it comes to condition...

The Radium radia is a good bottle but worth half what they are asking even if it wasn't broken..

I looked at a few of them and some of the labels look really sketchy. The top on the heroin bottle came from a glass/cork whiskey bottle. I would take my time, see how these sell, do some research on medicine bottles and paper labels. Look at sold prices for some similar bottles. Pricing can get tricky. I bet the farm on a bottle today and it sold for three times what I was willing to spend and yesterday I bought a bottle for a quarter of what I have seen this bottle go for at a local antique shop.
Keep at it. You will learn a lot and find a niche.

Thanks everyone, those are great suggestions.

I'm in barrage mode trying to learn.
I am trying to stick with listings that I can find comparable products previously sold.

Some items are very unique and especially if I can't find comparable examples, won't gamble on them at this point. I am loving the cobalt blue poison bottle niche. Hopefully too difficult to fake those compared to labels.

I'm sure I'll be had more than once while learning, but I look forward to building a nice collection. Something to display (I'd love to display it in an antique metal/glass medicine cabinet with lighting :) )

We have a few ULTRA knowledgable poison bottle folks in that section, they would be the GO-TO people when inquiring about poisons, check it out... Jim
