I got these two Kansas City whiskey bottles yesterday from a Craigslist ad. There were five quart bottles in the lot. Two slicks, a Hayner, and these two. The Donnelly Brothers were a distributor in KC but lived in Lawrence, Kansas and the Shawhan Distillery was, at the time in Weston, MO a few miles north of KC on the Missouri River. George Shawhan's family was from Kentucky. He opened a distillery in Lone Jack,Mo about 12 miles east of me in the 1880's. His place burnt down in 1900 and he eventually bought the place in Weston. It would later be McCormick's distillery. They make whiskey there from 1856 until the middle 1980's. There are lots of Shawhan shot glasses around and some other trays and such. There were only a very few actual distillers in the Kansas City area at any time. Not the fanciest bottles but add to my local collection of beer, soda and whiskey.
