For those of you who aren't familiar with me, I've been a collector of RI bottles for about 14 years. Davis Vegetable Pain Killer was a popular quack medicine from Providence, RI. I can't accuse the seller directly, but they have an original 1870s Davis Pain Killer bottle with a fake label which was refilled and sealed in an attempt to increase its value. I've seen quite a few Davis bottles with original labels and they are all the same, not like the strange one this bottle has.
An original label wouldn't have wording like that, it looks like a label from a circa 1910 bottle. Maybe it is!

Attached is a picture of an original label on a bottle of the same time period of the one on ebay.

The 'label' looks like a print out of a downloaded online archive of a newspaper or magazine ad.. at best.. [8|]

never seen that label or even that text as an ad.
Maybe a laser copy of a label from the 20s??
Definately doesnt match the bottle.

Hey Taylor, Jim & Charles,

Kudos to you "experts" who saved, or hopefully provided an avenue for escape to a foolish fleabayite. A tentative wave of the playpal wand to abalonegreg if he does indeed re-list with a proper description, or ditches the bogus label & sealing wax.

That looks like a trade card. I wonder when its from?
Question is , was there ever a bottle with that label or is it a fanciful creation for the trade card?
