I know there have been posts about it here in the past...I believe the trash is a bit too modern.

yes I have , it out on Floyd Benet felid . in Flat bush . mostly 1940s trash. you may come up with some artifacts. I found a lot of fed law bottles , and a few toys from cracker jacks .

Looks like a lot of stuff from the 50's to me, probably not much of interest. Reminds me of a beach out in Sidney, BC that used to be a garbage dump, I never saw it before they cleaned it up but it probably looked like that. Now it's a prime spot for finding beach glass, although it's more quantity than quality. The good beach glass always came from more remote areas with older glass.

I don't know when the landfill breached, but if the article is correct, the landfill opened in the 1800s...maybe the newer material washing off the top first. Eventually it may get to the good stuff.

wan it was a rendering plant , they did not use it as a garbage dump. People lived out there for years , and it was an air force base up until the late 1940s. I believe the dump was put there after the second world war.

Yeah I find there usually isn't much overlap between the 1890-1950 and 1950-1970 municipal dumps. I think by the time the 1950's rolled around with the dramatic increase in trash being produced they'd filled up the old dumps and had to start finding places to put new ones.
