In UK you have to get permission to dig on land belonging to others do you need permission in Australia and USA or is a Free4all

Every digger in America gets the written permission of the landowner, an archeological survey, and an environmental impact study before doing any digging just like they do in the UK.

I just pick out a spot and dig. Nevermind those pesky old landowners. Why do you think they call it the "Land of the free". We can do anything we please here.
