Kind of kidding with that last reply. Find a join a local bottle club, they need support and it will help you make contacts in your area. Aside from that, buy or make a probe and start walking creeks close to old houses.

Sanborn maps and Topographical maps are useful too. They're located at most libraries and a lot of websites have them too.

I hate sanborn maps thay don't tell us doo doo in our area,I go right to the yard and walk around,thats my map![:D]

Sanborn maps are old fire insurance maps.Your city or town library should have them.The historical society has them to.
They don't help me,but they may help you.

Some times they show privys..If we do use the maps, it is to look for the property lines,that's about it,the probe is the best tool.
